What is Expert Medical Services?

Expert Medical Services is available to you and your eligible family members to help provide guidance, support and advice when faced with a complex medical condition, treatment plan or questions and need to understand your options for care.

When should I use Expert Medical Services?

When you have concerns or questions about a diagnosis, need help deciding on a treatment option or question the need for surgery.

Who is eligible?

Expert Medical Services is offered at no charge to all Apple employees and their immediate and extended family members, including spouses, domestic partners, dependent children, siblings, parents, parents-in-law and grandparents.

What conditions or treatments are applicable?

Expert Medical Services provides you with access to leading medical experts who can provide advice on a wide range of conditions from mental health concerns, sports injuries and pregnancy complications to rare conditions, chronic diseases and life-threatening illnesses.

How does Expert Medical Services work with my physician?

Expert Medical Services offers additional medical insight into your condition. Your treating physician is still responsible for your care, and all treatment decisions will be made solely between you and your treating physician.

How long does it take to complete an Expert Medical Opinion case?

Most often, you’ll receive a report in a few short weeks. However, timing will vary based on the complexity of the situation and accessibility of the medical records. You will receive a call from a physician case manager to be updated on the progress.

Do I need to get my medical records?

Typically, it is easier and quicker for you to request a copy of your medical records and send them to your physician case manager. We will help you to understand which records are needed.

Do I have to travel or go to an office to see these physicians?

All communication takes place online or via telephone, so there is no need to travel or make an appointment.

What makes a physician who provides Expert Medical Services a medical expert?

Medical experts are recognized within the medical community as thought leaders in specific diseases. They hold significant positions at academic institutions, major medical centers, societies and journals. However, they are chosen for their disease-specific knowledge and experience in providing pertinent advice.

What languages are supported when using the Expert Medical Services benefit?

Physician Case Managers are equipped to work with you in your preferred language.
